Canada Team Update

Until we have a chance to sit down with Gary to write a detailed description of what the Harbour Team has been up to this past week, we'll give you a brief overview of their ministry here. They have been busy visiting local orphanages to distribute nutrients and receive the results of the last distribution. Gary was very enthusiastic about what he already saw, but we'll let him tell you a little later on! The team has also been busy here at PACE organizing in the PAST Theological Library - last count was that they had gone through close to 20 thousand books! They have also been sorting through boxes and boxes of books in a room just off of our apartment that will hopefully soon become a Children's Library.

They have also been able to feast on local cuisine as they have been guests at many different households this week. Unfortunately, part of eating locally is the chance of getting sick ... which is exactly what happened to the entire team (us included) aside from Jim. We have all been struggling this past week with upset stomachs due to the infamous "traveller's sickness"... which fortunately only lasts for about a day or two. For anyone that travels outside of America or the first world, you know what we're talking about :)

On Saturday - the day of our arranged safari - Gary and Ryan stayed home sick, and Grace and Taryn put in a valient effort and plower through the day with upset stomachs. All things considered, though, the day was a very memorable one.

Here are Taryn's top 5 highlights:
1. Watching a leopard slowly stalk, and unsucessfully attack its prey (a group of gazzels)!
2. Waching a stand-off between a large rhino and two smaller rhinos for shade under a tree ... the two smaller ones won the battle of wills!
3. Watching a water buffalo take a hot mud bath - to remove ticks - as other buffalo, zebras and wart hogs waited their turn.
4. Watching baby baboons battle for their mother's back to get a free ride.
5. Observing the panoramic view of a section of the park from a look-out point.

Here are a few pictures from the day. Note that the first picture is not snow ... it's salt! The second picture is a panoramic view of Lake Nakuru. Probably the best though, is a video of the leapord sneaking up on the gazels, but that will have to wait until we return! Until then, enjoy :-)

Great Pictures Ryan & Taryn but can you now send more pictures with you both in the forground? Don't get too close to the animals though :). Hope everyone is feeling better! Love, Mom

Finally, after all of these years, you've been on your first safari!! The pictures are fantastic but they don't show the joy that must have been on your face.

Oh my! What great pictures. I'm so jealous!!

Sounds like you have some bad allergies, Taryn. I know how that can wipe you out.
